Appalachian Trail

This long, run-hike climb rises in North Carolina. Expect 55 to 92 minutes. The hardest 500 metres average 19.6% and start 6.4 km in, so the worst of it lands when you are already committed. North-facing, so it holds shade and snow longer than the sunny side of the valley. At 6.0 TEP it sits around the middle of the catalogue. On the SAC scale it is mountain hiking, with uneven ground that asks for some care.
