Portage Pass Trail
Portage Pass Trail is a short, very steep climb above Whittier in Alaska. With 4.2 TEP it lands near the middle of the catalogue. Its steepest 500 metres run at 23.5% and start 350 m in, in the middle of the climb, so pace the first part. Most runners need 13 to 22 minutes. Graded mountain hiking: rougher ground where footing starts to matter. Facing northeast, it gets the morning sun and is shaded after that.
